This guy will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks in college football history. He's got the talent, he's got the team, he's got the arm, he's got the legs, he's got the courage, he's got the coach. He's got it all.Well, no duh! Most Gator fans knew this after Tebow first ripped past the Kentucky defense on national TV. We knew it when he bowled over Tennessee defender to clinch his first truly legendary moment. We knew he could throw the ball when passed for a couple TD's against LSU. Welcome to the bandwagon, douche bag!
Yes, Leak was the starting quarterback when the Gators won the national title last year, but if Tebow had started they might have been even better. If Tebow had started, the Gators probably wouldn't have lost to Auburn and would have finished unbeaten and avoided the end-of-the-season poll controversy that allowed them to play for the championship.
Leak was a good college quarterback with no chance of playing in the NFL. Tebow will be a great college quarterback who will someday be a first-round NFL draft pick.
Look at how much a few months can change someone. Instead of completely overlooking Chris Leak, in a January 9th column Bianchi said:
Talk about validation and vindication, maybe now quarterback Chris Leak finally will get the credit he is due as one of the greatest quarterbacks in Florida and Southeastern Conference history.
So which is it, Mikey? Is Leak just a good college quarterback or was he one of the greatest quarterbacks the SEC has ever seen?
I've got as much of a Tebowner as anyone, but Tebow probably didn't have the composure and knowledge to negotiate that schedule. Let's also not underestimate the vast amount of information he gained from working with Chris Leak. Tebow is as good as he is due to Chris Leak's influence and not in spite of it.
